OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:
The following are the available menu options:
Instructions - This option will take you to another
menu, where you may select a brief
informational screen on the program
options. It is recommended that first
time users review these screens;
Math Exercise - Perform math exercises;
Math Test - Take the math tests. You must enter the
continue code to see the student's final
scores and missed problems. To enter the
continue code, press and hold the <Alt> key
will typing 123 on the numeric keypad;
Saved Programs - Use a saved program for exercises/tests
instead of the standard programs;
Program Setup - Change the parameters of a saved
program;
Quit - Return to the BASIC prompt.
The <Esc> key may be used to exit an option back to the
menu, but only at certain times. The student will not be
allowed to exit prior to answering a problem, nor may you
exit in the midst of changing parameters under Program Setup.
Program Setup:
You will be first asked if you wish to change a saved
program. Answer with a "y" and then indicate which program
is to be changed. The chart indicates the grade of the
program. The program will list the types of problem and the
format in which it will appear on the screen for this grade.
The program will ask you if you wish to change any of the
parameters for the problems. You may change both the format
and type for each of the problems in the series. The current
selection will look like this:
Format 4444444444444444
Type 3333333333333333
You will be prompted through each alternating
format, then type, until the end. You may also change the
upper limit (the highest value a number can have for that
format). Enter the format number and the new upper limit.
Other parameters that may be changed are the times between
responses and the number of problems that are taken prior to
grading.
After going through all the parameters, the next
screen that appears will be the random number seed. For a
given set of parameters, the same problems will always be
generated. To change the values of the problem, enter a new
random number seed.
Next you will be asked if this file is a exercise or a
test. Then you will be prompted to indicate which current
file you wish to replace with the new one and the name you
want it to be called. Finally, you will be asked if you wish
to have a hard copy of the program and if you wish to see the
created problems.
